Serbia is one of the most searched job destinations for Indian workers who want a first job in Europe. Belgrade’s e-commerce warehouses, food-delivery companies, factories and hotels are short of staff, and since 2024 Serbia has a faster, fully online work-permit system. This guide gives real 2026 numbers – official statistics plus the salaries stated in the Serbia vacancies we currently handle – so you can judge any offer before you pay anyone.

Packing job salary in Serbia

“Packing jobs in Serbia salary” is the single most searched Serbia question. In the online-store warehouse vacancy we handle, packers, fillers and order pickers earn €4.13 per hour net, plus a bonus for overtime. At a normal 40-hour week that is about €720 net a month; with regular overtime many workers reach €800 – €900. The job is open to men, women and couples aged 18 to 55. Food-packing jobs in processing plants pay in a similar range.

Warehouse job salary in Serbia

Warehouse pay depends heavily on the employer. Entry warehouse work starts close to the minimum wage, while larger Belgrade e-commerce and logistics companies pay more: one current offer is €7 per hour gross, rising to €9 per hour after a successful probation period, and an auxiliary warehouse-worker vacancy starts from €9 per hour gross with paid overtime on weekdays and weekends. Forklift and reach-truck licences increase pay.

Food-delivery job salary in Serbia

Food-delivery riders in Belgrade and Subotica typically earn €600 – €900 net a month. Shifts are around 10 hours a day with two non-fixed days off a week, and the employer provides accommodation for 2–3 people per room. Income depends on the number of hours and orders, so ask how pay is calculated (fixed monthly, hourly or per delivery).

Cleaner and hotel housekeeping salary in Serbia

  • Cleaners (Belgrade, Jagodina, Subotica, Sremska Mitrovica): about €600 – €900 net a month depending on hours, for 9–10 hour days, with extra hours possible by agreement.
  • Hotel housekeeping in Belgrade: €1,150 – €1,250 gross a month for Monday–Friday day shifts – one of the better-paid entry jobs because hotels follow formal contracts.

Factory, welder and construction salaries

Production workers in Belgrade factories are offered about €9.12 per hour gross on a 40-hour week (8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday). Skilled welders (MIG/TIG) earn €9.10 – €10.90 per hour gross, and construction handymen about €700 – €1,000 net a month for 8–10 hour days, Monday to Saturday. Kitchen staff such as cook’s assistants start from about €7.67 per hour gross.

Gross vs net: what is deducted in Serbia?

Serbian job offers mix gross and net figures, and per-hour and per-month figures, so always ask which one you are being quoted. From gross pay, the employer deducts:

  • Social contributions (employee share): 19.9% – pension and disability insurance 14%, health insurance 5.15% and unemployment insurance 0.75%.
  • Income tax: 10% on salary above a monthly non-taxable amount.

As a rule of thumb, net pay is roughly 70% of gross for typical salaries. For example, €1,565 gross is about €1,100 – €1,130 net. The legal minimum wage is set as a net hourly amount (RSD 371), so no full-time worker should take home less than about €550 a month.

How much can you save working in Serbia?

Living costs in Serbia are lower than in Western Europe, and many employers of foreign workers provide shared accommodation. With free or subsidised housing, a worker typically spends €200 – €300 a month on food, phone and local transport. On a €700 – €1,000 net salary that leaves roughly €400 – €700 (about ₹44,000 – ₹77,000) a month to save or send home. If you must rent privately in Belgrade, savings fall sharply – compare offers on what you can save, not on the headline salary.

Serbia vs Albania vs Poland

Serbia pays more than Albania for most entry jobs and slightly less than Poland, but processing is faster and the permit is handled online. Read our detailed Albania salary guide and the Poland, Serbia and Albania jobs guide to compare.

Work permit for Indians in Serbia

Since 1 February 2024, Serbia issues a unified permit – one card that covers both residence and work – and the application is filed only online through the government portal for foreigners. Indian citizens need a type D visa to enter for work. In practice:

  1. You sign a job offer / employment contract with a Serbian employer.
  2. You obtain the type D (long-stay) visa through the Serbian embassy.
  3. The unified-permit application is filed online; the Ministry of Interior has a short legal deadline to decide, but plan for about one to two months in total including biometrics and the card.

Typical documents: passport, CV, police clearance certificate, medical certificate, photos and, for skilled jobs such as welding, experience certificates. Rules can change, so always confirm current requirements on official Serbian government websites.

How to spot a genuine Serbia job offer

  • The salary is at or above the legal minimum (RSD 371 net per hour) and the contract says clearly whether the figure is gross or net, per hour or per month.
  • The employer, city, hours, overtime pay and accommodation are written in the contract.
  • The work permit is applied for through the official online system – never work on a tourist entry.
  • Salary is paid to a bank account, not in cash.
